Minor Female Characters in Smallville

There have been quite a few women coming through Smallville who, although we only saw them once or in a handful of episodes, have left an indelible impression!

Pauline Kahn (played by Carrie Fisher): As a reporter, she was the partner of Perry White. Later she became the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet. Aware of Chloe’s previous stint as a reporter at the newspaper, Kahn was wary of offering her a job. She insisted Chloe prove herself to counteract her previous position which was bought for her by Lionel Luthor. She insisted that Chloe, like herself, must start at the bottom and work her way up.

Sheriff Nancy Adams (played by Camille Mitchell): Sheriff Adams’ integrity meant she could not be bought by the Luthors. Even in an alternate dimension, she proved helpful against the Lex Luthor by giving insider information on Lex’s evil operations to Clark Kent.

Captain Maggie Sawyer (played Jill Teed): Like her Smallville counterpart in Sheriff Adams, Captain Sawyer’s tough attitude meant she placed value in her work. She proved herself worthy of being a high ranking female in the Metropolis Police Department.

Dinah Lance aka Black Canary (played by Alaina Huffman): As the first female superhero of Oliver Queen’s newly assembled Justice League, she proved she could handle her own and play with the boys. Originally working for Lex Luthor, she believed Green Arrow to be a terrorist. Upon learning the truth, she was contrite enough to want to end her superhero ways until Oliver offered a chance to use her skills for known good.
